I am an artist-facilitator and designer of participatory art and festival projects. I also have many years of experience as an animator/designer, autonomous artist and arts educator.

As the founder and artistic director of Cardboarders, I develop temporary making-arenas and playful micro-societies in which the audience becomes active “worldbuilders”.

In these arenas, it’s never just about building. It’s about how what you make subtly reshapes the larger ‘game’ you’re already playing at that moment. The community-game, the work-game, the friend-game, the festival-game, the exhibition-game.

My practice revolves around designing social situations, rituals, and creative systems that try to cause change in, and awareness of, these games. You can find me as a maker, curator, and program designer for festivals and cultural institutions such as Defqon1, Wildeburg, Kaboom Animation Festival, Lowlands, and various museums and cultural organizations.

I also teach at the Willem de Kooning Academy, where I support students in testing their assumptions and increasing the impact of their work, reflecting on their practice, exploring participatory art methods, and understanding the importance of actual connection, often through exploring materials.
