About
Art is an action sport — something to be played, explored, and experienced together. Dialogue, reflection, and experimentation happen in real time with all participants.
I love absurdity, quirkiness, and the freshness of amateurism. Creation comes from the innocent pleasure of making together, with a sense of having nothing to lose.
With collectives Cardboarders.com and Reanimation.nl, I bring these ideas to life through participatory sculpture parades, art games, (live-)animation, workshops, talks, interactive installations, crowd sourced festival journalism, and giant cardboard building arena’s.
I design experiences that invite creative collaboration, turning every participant into a co-creator.
Material, participation, and co-creation reconnect us with the world, with each other, and creation itself.
Teaching and guiding students at the Willem de Kooning Academy and HKU overlaps with that. I teach at the crossroads of animation, illustration, audiovisual design and social practice, inviting students to develop together, rather than to design themselves.
My teaching style is a blend of non-dual awareness, participatory art, storytelling and design thinking. I create spaces where students learn through direct experience, dialogue, and embodied experimentation rather than abstract instruction.
